(more affordable) Party Dresses! pt.2

Okay, I know it is NYE and this is the last post of the year. And I know this post might possibly be too late for your actual party. But the great thing is, most modest dresses are classic, and classic does not go out of style. So, you can use these ideas for pretty much any future endeavors. Last post ( Holiday Party Dresses ) I showed a few party dresses that could be rented. They are so cute, but still pretty far out of my budget at this point. I think this one is my real favorite and much better on the wallet.  Here you go! Sierra Brooke: Isabel - Red I had never heard of Sierra Brooke until recently but I really like this style. Maybe I just like this dress because it's red (aka great party color right?) or because the model is twirling a bit and the dress flares out. But it is great! I feel like it can pull off the Party Dress or the Sunday Best title. It's my favorite. Right now it looks like they only have this color in larger sizes, but.... it does come in black (

Holiday Party Dresses

So... I have been a little busy with school the past few months and haven't posted anything on here. Mostly because I've been wearing the same, fairly awful, khaki scrubs every day since September. I'll do a post about them later, they are after all modest. Haha. Winter is in full force! This is usually pretty great for the modesty scene. :) People usually don't like to be frozen so clothing is more covering. The biggest dilemma for trying to find something modest is probably the Christmas or New Year's Eve holiday parties. Since I decided to go back to school, I have been pinching the pennies like nobodies business. And while, I can't seem to justify buying new clothes right now, I CAN 100% window shop online. I've found a couple of great dresses to share. The first few are from a website with a novel idea called www.renttherunway.com . Think "Rent a Swag" from Parks and Rec. It offers designer clothes for rent at a fraction of the price. Now,

Growing Up

I've kind of been saving this one. Today is this lovely young woman's birthday. Isn't she beautiful!? My niece is a senior in high school this year and will soon have her whole world changing. I know she's got the skills and abilities to continue to shine. Happy Birthday!  Now let's mention the ah-dorable dress she's got on! First of all, it has a great length and sleeves with a flexible fit for flattery.  The absolute best thing about this outfit (which I didn't get a photo unfortunately), is the back. Super cute black and white dress. Problem: Sheer black scoop neck back. Solution: black cami under dress!  I did not even notice this fix until she pointed it out to me and by that point we were tired of taking pictures :)  I am proud of her for making it modest!

Modesty is Hottesty

Ok, it's Friday. It's been a rough week. I needed a laugh. This did it. "Modesty is Hottesty" always makes me laugh. Check out the video: Modesty is Hottesty It is a silly phrase and fun song, but it actually represents a pretty deep truth. Modesty can give you confidence and confidence is attractive! I love that these guys realize that principle. It starts out really great then gets a little funky with the autotuned, but you can tell they had fun making the video. I hope YOU are having a fun Friday and "remember who you are."

Fantastically Feminine

Modesty is so feminine. I love it. It can bring poise and confidence. It comes in all colors, sizes, and styles. This lovely lady is wearing a cute design dress with an adorable cardigan. She's got the layers down to perfection! Beautiful outfit for a beautiful woman!  "Young women, in a world ever growing in moral pollution, tolerance of evil, exploitation of women, and distortion of roles, you must stand guard of yourself, your family, and all those with whom you associate. You must be guardians of virtue." - Elaine S. Dalton  (Guardians of Virtue)

The Long and The Short of it (B&W Style)

Two lovely ladies happen to have a very similar skirt on and they both looked great! Black and white is timeless.  Rocked on the L in maxi style and on the R with the pencil!  This brings up the always interesting topic of "gray area" with modesty. Is there a gray area? Or is it simply black or white, modest or not?  I say, it is black and white. Keeping your style so you don't have to pull and tug or adjust any areas all day long to keep things covered is modest. And, it's totally cute!

FUN (modest) Fashion!

Ok, so you all know the point of this blog is not to learn super high-fashion fashion tips right? It's about how being modest=confidence/happiness! But just because it's modest, doesn't mean it has to be boring! Outfits can be so fun!!! The office where I work gets the magazine Cosmopolitan (aka Cosmo) for the waiting room. To clarify the owners did NOT request or subscribe to this magazine as the values of the company are very different than the image to be set in the office waiting room. So, I usually look at it on lunch break, rip out a few semi useful articles, perfume samples or, even better, makeup coupons. Then it ends up in the trash can pretty fast. Sorry Cosmo. The latest issue (August) had a cute section called "Fun, Fearless, Shopping". And I LOVE fun fashion. I love to wear fun clothes because obviously, it is fun! AND this issue had a modest outfit! Basically, it was dressing up a sweatshirt. I couldn't find the link to the article to share b
